Online casino Chile with PayPal: why it barely exists and what to use instead

The short answer

Looking for an online casino in Chile with PayPal almost always ends in nothing: PayPal only allows online gambling payments in markets with local regulation and licences, and Chile does not grant online casino licences. Why PayPal and Chilean casinos do not mix

PayPal has an acceptable use policy that bans using the account for online gambling except where the operator holds a local licence and PayPal has approved the market. In regulated Europe (the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy) and in some US states, PayPal works at casinos. In Chile there are no online casino licences, so there are no operators PayPal can approve.

Three consequences:

1. Casinos hide PayPal from Chilean accounts. Even if the same operator offers it in Europe, when you register an account with Chile as the country, the cashier does not show it.
2. If a payment slips through, the risk is yours. PayPal can limit or close accounts it detects paying gambling operators from non-approved countries.

International wallets that do appear

If you want an e-wallet like PayPal, what casinos with a foreign licence usually offer Chileans is Skrill or Neteller, and in some cases AstroPay. They work in a similar way: you top up the wallet by card or transfer, pay the casino and receive withdrawals into the wallet. Differences from PayPal:

• They do accept online gambling in unregulated markets; it is their core business.

• The account is usually in dollars or euros, so there is a conversion when depositing from pesos and when withdrawing to pesos.

How to avoid "PayPal casino Chile" scams

Since PayPal barely exists at casinos for Chileans, sites appear that promise it to attract sign-ups:

• A casino that advertises "PayPal Chile" and, when you reach the cashier, only offers a transfer to a personal account: fraud.
• Messages on WhatsApp or Telegram offering to "top up your balance with PayPal" in exchange for a transfer: fraud.
• Sites with no owning company or licence in the footer: do not deposit by any method.

What could change with the law

Bill 14.838-03 will create Chilean online gambling licences and a regulator with powers over operators. When that happens, PayPal could approve Chile as a market, as it has done in other regulated countries, and operators with a Chilean licence could integrate it. That is not certain and has no date.
